the clouds; I love being above them and in them. I only think I see three dimensional clouds from the ground, but you never actually do unless your in the sky. And the way they can kind of look like waves in the ocean.
the ground; seeing the shapes of rivers, the Appalachians, woods, farms, cities...
banking; when we bank far enough to see the shadow of the plane on the ground.
how science fictiony I still think it is, that giant block of metal and all those tiny people inside 3500 above the ground, no strings attached.
meeting people; turns out, this is something I actually do like about airports--I met people from all over the world, including a journalist/designer in Tucson whom I plan to actually stay in touch with.
I request window seats and leave my face pressed against the glass for most of the flight, except when I pull away enough to take pictures. Here are a few:

And that was just in the plane...I haven't even mentioned New Orleans, nor did I take any pictures there. That is a wonderful city and I had a great time and met great people, but isn't what's been on my mind today.
